To Chinese, flowers represent growth. The Chinese believe that no New Year party is complete without flowers. They try to choose flowers that have special meanings – white narcissus, the flower of good fortune; pink blossoms of peach or plum, meaning long life; and peonies, the flowers of wealth and honor.

Besides narcissus, peach and plum blossoms, and peonies, chrysanthemums and daffodils are also very popular during the Chinese New Year.

Also, any kind of red flowers are considered appropriate for the New Year celebration because red, the Chinese think, is the color of good luck and happiness.
